If your toddler doesn't always respond to their name, rarely points to share, or seems in their own world, you may be wondering about autism. This free, private tool gives you a calm read on the early signs that matter most — and clear next steps. It is an awareness screening, not a diagnosis, and it reproduces no copyrighted test.
No. This is an original ProParents awareness checklist and does not reproduce the M-CHAT-R/F or any other copyrighted instrument. The M-CHAT-R/F is the validated screener clinicians use at the 18- and 24-month visits; ask your paediatrician for it. Our tool helps you notice the well-known early signs and decide whether to take that step.
No. It's a free awareness screening, not a diagnosis. Only a qualified professional can diagnose autism, through a full evaluation. A flagged result simply means a professional screen would be worthwhile.
Not necessarily. A speech delay on its own is more often a language issue than autism. What points toward autism is a difference in social communication — sharing, pointing, eye contact, response to name — not just fewer words. A professional can tell the difference. Our free speech check can help too.
It’s designed for toddlers roughly 16–48 months, the window when the earliest signs are most visible and screening is recommended.
No. Autism is a largely genetic, brain-based difference in development. It is not caused by vaccines (thoroughly studied and disproven), by screen time, or by parenting style.
This is a general awareness screening, not a diagnosis and not a validated clinical instrument (it is not the M-CHAT-R/F). If several signs fit, if your instinct says something is off, or if your child has lost any skills, please speak with your paediatrician and ask about a developmental screen and evaluation.
